In the Highlands from Moshi DC

Moshi is a great starting point for exploring the slopes of Kilimanjaro. Of course, the local safari companies also offer many day tours to places of tourist interest. On these tours you can easily visit waterfalls, explore caves or take part in a coffee tour.
But it is also possible to discover many things on your own. For the adventurous, you can hop on one of the many Dalla Dalla (local minibuses) from the central bus station. Possible directions are Kilema, Mwika, Uru, Shimbwe, Kibosho, Machame or Tarakea. These are all villages in the Highlands. It is possible to get off at any time on the way and then just start walking.

There are plenty of small connecting paths to explore.
For orientation, there is always Kilimanjaro on one side or the view into the valley on the other. The app "Mapy.CZ" has also proven itself well. There are countless small watercourses, larger rivers, waterfalls, caves or viewpoints.
And always worth seeing homestays of the Wachagga (tribe in the Kilimanjaro region).
"Ngangu", 1520 m.
As you climb this mountain in Kilema, you will come across the 14 Stations of the Cross. It is said that Pope Francis has also been here before. On a clear day, you have a great view of Kilimanjaro and Moshi.

No matter which village you choose as your starting point, the predominant colour of all hikes is GREEN!!!
