About tanzanian bees & trees

Environmental education is a crucial factor in sensitizing future generations to protect our nature and promote sustainable practices. Projects that focus on education, beekeeping, tree planting and native woody plants not only offer the opportunity to impart knowledge, but also actively promote the preservation of biodiversity and the strengthening of local ecosystems.

The Association

We are a committed association with currently 53 volunteer members that has been working to protect the environment, promote biodiversity and foster international understanding in Tanzania since it was founded in 2019.

Our origins date back to 1994, when our Chairperson first made contact with the Himo Tree Nursery as part of a development cooperation project. But it was only many years later, through our involvement in the twinning work of the city partnership between the city of Kiel and the district of Moshi, which was founded in 2013, that the basis for our work was laid.

Our Goals

Since our foundation, we have been actively committed to environmental protection, biodiversity, international understanding and environmental education in Tanzania. Together with our Tanzanian cooperation partner “Tanzanian Bees & Trees Africa”, we implement projects on tree planting, ecological beekeeping and environmental education.

  • Expansion of the Himo Tree Nursery into an environmental education center: meeting place and place of learning to sensitize the Tanzanian population to nature conservation and environmental protection.
  • Promoting environmental education: raising awareness of ecological relationships and sustainable practices
  • Support for beekeeping: strengthening the bee population through training programs for prospective beekeepers
  • Tree planting campaigns: Preventing erosion and improving the quality of life for people, plants and animals
  • Focus on indigenous trees: Restoring ecosystems and promoting biodiversity
  • Strengthening a sense of community: building networks and exchanges between interested parties and experts
  • Practical workshops and events: Imparting skills and knowledge for the sustainable management of nature

This is what we are fighting for

Since then, we have already implemented numerous projects that have had a significant impact on the quality of life of local people. You can read more in our activity reports, which you can find in the “Transparency” section.

We look forward to meeting like-minded people who would like to get involved in our projects. Whether as members, donors or sponsors in passive or active form - everyone is welcome!
