German beekeepers meet Tanzanian wild honeybees
Battle for honey
What a great experience!
The first honey harvest by German beekeepers in Tanzania.
Everything is really quite different from what we are used to. Working with Tanzanian bees requires complete sting protection, as the bees are quite aggressive.
Honey harvesting in inhabited areas is usually done in the dark, as otherwise the danger to the population is too great.
And what a dangerous, hard job has to be done to get to the beehives!
Someone has to climb up the tree to lower the beehives down on a rope and then back up again.
There is definitely room for improvement.
