The school garden project at Mnini Secondary School has got off to a good start and it is now time to teach the pupils about the practical benefits of amaranth: in theory and in practice.

A total of 60 pupils from years 7 to 10 work in six groups on topics such as “Why do we have to eat” and “What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?”.

Nicoline Henkel from the environmental protection office of the state capital of Kiel is responsible for the theoretical part of the project week ....

... while Angela Schulze-Hamann takes the practical part in the kitchen.

Every day, two pupils from each group take it in turns to help.

And then everyone tries together what delicious things can be made from amaranth.
